Professional Development
Do you want to make your practice more accessible for individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities? Do you want to explore the multi-sensory?

Frozen Light run workshops and residencies throughout the year. Within our training we encourage artists to delve into their own practices to see how they can look at the core sensorial and emotional experiences of their work- and how that could be made relevant to audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities.

“The Frozen Light residency was excellent. It was in keeping with the Company’s thorough, sensitive and creative approach to their productions, taking us systematically through the processes and onto nurturing our own creativity. I would recommend it to everyone, and particularly to those wishing to work with people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.” Cathy Walker – Residency participant

“What struck me with Frozen Light’s delivery of this training was their preparation, passion, playfulness and professionalism. They portrayed an extremely informative reflection of the people whom they create work for and all the considerations this audience requires. Alongside facilitating us to expand our creative vision, to think outside the box and explore new exciting ways of expression… It was one of the most stimulating, thought-provoking, enjoyable weeks I’ve had in theatre and would love to do more of it.” Alison Houiellebecq – Residency Participant

Through looking at Frozen Light’s multi-sensory practice for audiences with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), participants will learn about how theatre can be made accessible for the needs of individuals with PMLD. Looking at multi-sensory, interactive and immersive theatre techniques participants will have the opportunity to put their own ideas into practice.

This is an ideal training programme for Applied Theatre students, and drama students interested in working in the community.
