The Isle of Brimsker 2018/19
“With dates around the country, including Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as Lyth (near Wick) and Inverness, creators Frozen Light hope more artists and venues will follow their lead in helping the theatre environment to accommodate everyone.”
The Sunday Post
“Frozen Light’s The Isle of Brimsker is rare for focusing on audience members with profound and multiple learning disabilities. It interweaves communication of different kinds: the world of a lonely lighthouse keeper is evoked using spoken word and music, but also through delicate curtains of metallic plastic, through one-on-one attention from performers, from invitations to look inside intricate boxes, feel pebbles, or to experience tiny shavings of ice falling onto your skin. It’s unlikely to get as much media attention as All in a Row, because it’s aimed at people who sit outside of the mainstream conversation around theatre.
Exeunt Magazine (within a Feature about All in a Row)
“What the theatres realise is that it’s part of their remit to reach people in their whole community. And the more we tour, the more the demand for the work grows. Once venues realise there’s an audience they contact us, asking: “When can you come back?’ ”
The Stage- Feature
“Only a small number of theatre companies worldwide make work designed for people with PMLD. So, for many in the audience seeing Frozen Light’s work will be their first time in a mainstream theatre venue.”
